The Efficient Coach

Niall is the current Head of Coach Education for the Football Association of Ireland. He holds a UEFA Pro coaching license and has a Master of Education from the University College in Cork. His presence as the Head of Coach Education has led to a more holistic approach to coach education in FAI.

We start out this session by going into a couple of quotes I found really interesting and that speaks to Niall’s core beliefs in coach education. One was “You got to judge yourself in the environment that you’re in, and not look at the wrong reference” and the other was “You should judge your coach 10 years down the line - how many of those players are still playing football?”.

Niall dives into details around these quotes, the difficulties of being a volunteer coach and provides young coaches with great advice in this session. Make sure you listen all the way through, because this one is a beauty.

Books & Resources mentioned in this session:

Andy Reid Live Interview (Quotes from 17:48 & 19:10)
